I'm Delaine MacDougall
Code Consultant
Celerity Engineering Ltd.
Regina, SK
What is your current job role and building code experience?
I’ve worked in the construction industry and with the Building Code for over 15 years – first as a designer, then as a Building Official and now as a consultant.
As a code consultant for Celerity Engineering – I get to use my experience from both sides of the table, working with both authorities and design professionals.
What impact do you hope to have at Kilo Lima?
I hope to add insight on and from Part 9 and Part 3 residential – which are home to me!
What are you passionate about outside the office?
I’m a coffee addict that loves to travel.
Spending time with my family and watching my daughter find her passions brings me joy.
Sunny hikes, good books and the occasional glass of Malbec bring me peace.
What are the biggest challenges facing the building code industry today?
Keeping up with innovation to ensure products and systems are proven and safe, while not preventing new ideas from being put to use!
“I get to use my experience from both sides of the table, working with both authorities and design professionals.”
What project or initiative have you heard about lately that really inspires you?
I’m passionate about accessibility – and have been researching standards and practices used in countries around the world. It really highlights how far we have come – but how much better we can do!
