Fire Department Access Route

My question is: Is there ever a time that access needs to be provided around an entire building?

  1. I would suggest no it does not unless there is not enough room for a fire truck turn around, the argument could be used that the access is all around the building and no reason for a turn around.

  2. Hi All, I would comment however if in Ontario, that a FAR may be a requirement of Ontario Fire Code, Part 3, 4 or 5 and that may require the FAR to extend either surrounding a building or in exceeding OBC requirements. We have had instances that require a more “deep dive” on process review in evaluation on FAR (for existing building that has altered their FAR from that approved).
