The wheels have been turning for half a year, and it’s time to launch our first courses at the end of this month! Kilo Lima Code School will connect those who want to learn with those who want to teach, in a single convenient location. We know that people are busy, life throws curve-balls, and strict learning schedules can be a challenge. All of our courses will have self-paced options so what you can learn when it’s best for YOU.

With the current way of life, a lot of education has been moved online. You may be thinking, “What will make Kilo Lima Code School better than other options out there when it comes to learning about the building/fire code and related standards and information?” Glad you asked! Read on to find out a few reasons:

1. We’ll only offer curated content

The wonderful part of growing a Canada-wide building and fire code community is all the connections we have been making along the way. Those who see the tremendous benefit in knowledge sharing have been sending us ideas for courses they see a need for, as well as recommending wonderful instructors and content creators they have learned from. We want to find those gems scattered across the country, and sprinkle their knowledge to everyone who wants to learn.

We love to teach, but we also love to learn. And we’ve taken a lot of courses (some of which we’d recommend and others we would not). We’re only going to offer courses that meet our high standards of learning.

2. We believe in abundance and innovation

Ideas and knowledge are the ultimate resource… and when we share them, we ALL have more. Innovation in the industry can only happen if we share and exchange ideas and knowledge, and work together to break down barriers.

We are also a couple of continuous-improvers and are committed to our students. We will always be on the lookout for new ways to make learning more engaging and efficient. We also know that most of that insight comes from feedback, which we love to get and digest to make the school even better!

3. We’re all about ‘just in time’ learning too

We’ve all been there. You take a course and walk away with an exhausted brain and giant binder full of information. But you don’t actually use it or need it right away and forget most of it.

Kilo Lima courses will give you immediate benefit and tools to integrate your new knowledge in your professional role. We will have informative ‘just-in-case’ learning as well to give you a broad fundamental knowledge of building and fire codes, but know that specialized courses that teach and give you the tools you need right now are extremely important. (Think CAN/ULC S1001 overview with checklists and best practices you can walk away with and implement on your next project.)

I am so excited this dream is coming to fruition. It is amazing the things that can happen when you trust your gut and chase a dream. My dream is to de-mystify the building and fire codes so the industry can keep doing great work faster, better and with community.
