What is your current job role and building code experience?

I currently work as an Associate at LRI Engineering Inc. (Toronto, Ontario). I manage and co-ordinate all Accessibility consulting work. I have 6 years of accessibility code, best practice, and Universal Design consulting experience. I have been a part of a range of projects from simple retail fit-outs to complex healthcare and multi-year masterplan development projects. You can find me on LinkedIn  or reach me via email at [email protected].

What project or initiative have you heard about lately that really inspires you?

I am inspired by the passing of The Accessible Canada Act (Bill C-81) into law on June 21, 2019. It is a great first step for Canada in the realm of making the country accessible for Canadians with disabilities. There is a long way to go but I am encouraged by the commitment from the Government of Canada and hope that real progress will be made in the fight for an equitable built environment across the country.

What impact do you hope to have at Kilo Lima?

I hope to ignite a passion for Accessibility and Universal Design and to expand the knowledge base for industry professionals so that accessible design can be done well, be Code compliant, and push beyond minimum requirements.

What are you passionate about outside the office?

Outside of the office most of my time is spent doing music (singing and playing piano) and renovating my home. I have a hard time sitting still so when I spend too much time at home (thank you Covid) I start to get antsy and knock down walls! (I promise that I put them back up and make the space look better!)
