Location of Standpipe Hose Connections

If you enjoyed this post, we encourage you to share!

The codes state that ‘hose connections shall be located in exits, in accordance with NFPA 14, “Installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems”. A few questions around this:

  1. In a building with an interior exit stair, should the connections be at the floor or intermediate-level landings
  2. In a building with an exterior exit stair with a combination of a few steps, and then extended path, to more steps to grade, where should the connections be?
  3. In a single storey building with no exit stairs (ie unsprinklered building over area limits in the building code or in an unsprinklered distillery as required by the fire code), where should the connections be?
