Resilient Metal Channels in Rated Assemblies?

If you enjoyed this post, we encourage you to share!

My question: Is it okay to add resilient metal channels to assemblies in the Part 9 Tables if not shown? What about tested assemblies?

  1. Hi

My thoughts are that it is “OK” to add them, but the assembly should then be calculated through Appendix D (which generally assigns a reduction in FRR of 10mins). Alternatively, find a suitable assembly with resilient channel included.

My understanding is that tested assemblies are product and manufacturer specific. So, no.
